By many lakes and ponds I’ve seen
By many lakes and ponds I’ve seen
A God so pure and so obscene
With legs of goat and horns of bone
I’ve seen this God upon his throne.
And Nymphs and fairies I have known
To change from what this God has shown
And taught them with a smile so clear
That panpipes play inside their ear.
And every mountain, from up high
Knows with no doubt: Pan shall not die.
